This oil on canvas by the Swiss-born painter, Jacques Laurent Agasse (1767-1849) is entitled The Toy Boat. Modern carved giltwood frame measures 40.75" by 50" by 3". Stretcher measures 32" by 41.25". Provenance: Frost and Reed, Bristol England (circa 1881); Roni Steinberg Sokoloff, New York NY (current). There is a very old repair to the canvas on verso in the lower right corner, and suspected in-painting on front over this area. We have not inspected the work under UV light...

Included here is a monumental pair of porcelain urns measuring 44" tall and 18.5" wide (111.8 cm and 47 cm), featuring painted scenes depicting muses on a cobalt blue ground, with the monogram of King Louis Philippe (1773-1850) on the reverse. They are believed to date from the late nineteenth century or possibly the period of Napoleon III (third quarter of the nineteenth century). Condition of each is exceptional, with no signs of restoration or damage. Provenance provided upon request...

This extraordinary cased glass chandelier features blue, white and clear overlay glass, decorated with painted enamels, bells, crystals, and twelve hurricane shades. No electric sockets or wiring, but we may add for an additional cost prior to shipment. It is of Bohemian origin, but we do not know the maker. It was designed, circa 1900, for the Ottoman market ( Islamic, Middle Eastern ), specifically Syrian, Persian ( Iranian ) or Arabian markets. Condition is excellent.
