This oil on canvas by the Swiss-born painter, Jacques Laurent Agasse (1767-1849) is entitled The Toy Boat. Modern carved giltwood frame measures 40.75" by 50" by 3". Stretcher measures 32" by 41.25". Provenance: Frost and Reed, Bristol England (circa 1881); Roni Steinberg Sokoloff, New York NY (current). There is a very old repair to the canvas on verso in the lower right corner, and suspected in-painting on front over this area. We have not inspected the work under UV light...

This matching pair of 64" (162 cm) tall torchieres from Edward F. Caldwell are crafted from carved marble and feature neoclassical, figural gilded and patinated bronze candlearms with serpent motifs and seashell drip pans, modeled after designs by Jean Leon Gerome (1824-1904). The marble pedestals feature carved floral, fish and swan bird motifs and rest upon gilt bronze platforms...

This monumental Viennese stove, crafted from white glazed terracotta, dates from the mid-nineteenth century and measures an impressive 106" tall and 36" wide and deep. It resides with our client in Manhattan and may be seen in person by appointment.

Included here is a monumental pair of porcelain urns measuring 44" tall and 18.5" wide (111.8 cm and 47 cm), featuring painted scenes depicting muses on a cobalt blue ground, with the monogram of King Louis Philippe (1773-1850) on the reverse. They are believed to date from the late nineteenth century or possibly the period of Napoleon III (third quarter of the nineteenth century). Condition of each is exceptional, with no signs of restoration or damage. Provenance provided upon request...

This extraordinary cased glass chandelier features blue, white and clear overlay glass, decorated with painted enamels, bells, crystals, and twelve hurricane shades. No electric sockets or wiring, but we may add for an additional cost prior to shipment. It is of Bohemian origin, but we do not know the maker. It was designed, circa 1900, for the Ottoman market ( Islamic, Middle Eastern ), specifically Syrian, Persian ( Iranian ) or Arabian markets. Condition is excellent.

This extraordinary, antique palace-size chandelier is crafted from enameled and jeweled, white and clear (white cut-to-clear) cased glass. It has a central stem with spiral twist clear glass arms capped with nine tall hurricane shades, and numerous bell-shaped pendants. This Bohemian fixture was produced for the Islamic ( Middle Eastern or Indian ) market and dates from the early twentieth century. It can been fitted with modern sockets and wiring for an additional fee...

This extraordinary pair of marble torcheres have been attributed to E.F. Caldwell and date from circa 1900-1910. Each measures 72" H X 20" W X 20" D (183.0 H X 50.8 W X 50.8 D cm), and are shown here with 5" diameter candles in place. They feature extraordinary carved decoration in high relief. The cornice has an egg and dart motif at the edge and acanthus leaves scrolling on four sides. The upright portion beneath the cornice features a diaper motif, scrolling acanthus leaves and swans...

This extraordinary and large antique jewelry casket dates from circa 1870-1890 and is believed to be of Austro-Hungarian origin. It measures an impressive 18 by 15 by 10 inches (45.7 by 38.1 by 25.4 cm). It features silver, bronze, and enamel applied decoration on an ebonized wooden frame. It has two center doors with four repousse silver plaques depicting reclining Greco-Roman female beauties and a center section with plaque depicting a soldier within an architectural frame...

This extraodinary bronze sculpture, Gloria Victis, by Marius Jean Antonin Mercie (1845-1916), was cast by Barbedienne in the nineteenth century. Measuring 56" (142 cm), it is believed to be the second largest cast known to have been made by Barbedienne. First conceived while Mercie was studying in Rome at the French Academy, it originally modelled where Fame was supporting a victorius warrior in anticipation of a positive outcome to the Franco-Prussian war started in 1870...

Included here are two extraordinary antique (19th century) Italian carved busts depicting Roman emperors. Measures: 35 x 25 x 14 in (88.9 x 63.5 x 35.6 cm); 35 x 29 x 15 in (88.9 x 73.7 x 38.1 cm). Each exhibits the finest craftsmanship and details in high relief and their overall condition is excellent. We have found no signatures.

This extraordinary Bohemian glass chandelier features six electrified candle arms with clear glass hurricane shades with gilded decoration, a center stem with cased glass sections and glass bell flowers. Stem includes sections which are opaque white glass cut to green, and white glass cut to ruby red. Wired for use in the U.S. Very good condition. There are no visible signs of restoration...
