This wonderful antique gilt bronze and marble inkwell depicts a chained mastiff guard dog sculpted by the French animalier, Charles H. Valton (1851-1918). It measures 11.75" by 16" by 10". Post sign reads "PRENEZ GAIDE AU CHIEN" which translates simply to "beware of dog". This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment. Included here is a pair of old Chinese porcelain foo dogs (lions) in turquoise blue and aubergine flambe glaze. Each measures 16.25" tall, 7.5" wide and 5.5" deep. There are no hallmarks. Condition is very good. The only visible damage is a small chip from the claw of one lion. They are crafted from stainless steel and feature stitched red leather panels and Japanese style textured paper shades and single candelabra bulbs. They are marked number six out of a limited edition of just eight. Each measures 60.5" tall and 16" wide/deep at the base...

Included here is a pair of antique, speckled brown marble urns, circa 1870, featuring gilt bronze mounts depicting berry vines, foliate scrolls, acanthus and lotus leaves, and other neoclassical motifs. The patina of the finials do not match the rest of the mounts, and may have been replaced. Each measures 21" tall and each weighs an estimated 40-60 lbs. or more...

This lovely antique bombe shaped commode in the French Louis XV style features a forest green laque de chine finish with figural decoration, cast bronze mounts, and Breche maroon marble top. It measures 44.5" wide, 33.75" tall and 22.25" deep, and has two drawers. A paper label on the top of the frame reads "Envoi de E Kahn & Cie 84 Avenue Ledru-Rollin, Paris". Overall condition is excellent...

This patinated cast white metal sculpture, circa 1900, depicts an Arab fighter on horseback after the original model by Emile Coriolan Hippolyte Guillemin (1841-1907) and Alfred Barye (1839-1882). It measures 25" tall, 19.5" wide and 9.5" deep, and weighs an estimated 20-25 lbs. It is signed " Ele. Guillemin " and " Barye. Fils ", and carries a mark which reads " FABRICATION FRANCAISE PARIS MADE IN FRANCE ", suggesting the piece dates from sometime after 1892...

Included here is a magnificent pair of nineteenth century gilt bronze candelabra featuring turquoise glazed porcelain figurines by the French animalier, Alphonse-Alexandre Arson (1822-1880).
