This wonderful antique gilt bronze and marble inkwell depicts a chained mastiff guard dog sculpted by the French animalier, Charles H. Valton (1851-1918). It measures 11.75" by 16" by 10". Post sign reads "PRENEZ GAIDE AU CHIEN" which translates simply to "beware of dog". This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment. Included here is a pair of old Chinese porcelain foo dogs (lions) in turquoise blue and aubergine flambe glaze. Each measures 16.25" tall, 7.5" wide and 5.5" deep. There are no hallmarks. Condition is very good. The only visible damage is a small chip from the claw of one lion. They are crafted from stainless steel and feature stitched red leather panels and Japanese style textured paper shades and single candelabra bulbs. They are marked number six out of a limited edition of just eight. Each measures 60.5" tall and 16" wide/deep at the base...
Included here is a pair of antique, speckled brown marble urns, circa 1870, featuring gilt bronze mounts depicting berry vines, foliate scrolls, acanthus and lotus leaves, and other neoclassical motifs. It measures 44.5" wide, 33.75" tall and 22.25" deep, and has two drawers. A paper label on the top of the frame reads "Envoi de E Kahn & Cie 84 Avenue Ledru-Rollin, Paris".
