This delightful old bronze Japanese sculpture depicts a gentleman making sake. It measures 25" tall, 16" wide and 14" deep (63.5 cm by 40.6 cm by 35.6 cm). It carries the signature of Sano Takachika and dates from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Included here is matching pair of cut crystal obelisks with gilded metal mounts and pedestals, circa 1920s. Each measures 33" tall and 6.5" wide and deep. Condition is very good. The only visible loss is a small chip at the corner of one obelisk near the base. They are unmarked and the maker is unknown. Likely of continental origin, possibly French. This pair reside with our client in midtown Manhattan in New York City, and may be seen in person by appointment.

It features extensive enamel painted scenes depicting royalty and various animals in panels separated by Greek or Roman columns.
