This lovely triangular-shaped low table, known as the Gran Tucano, was designed by Marc Berthier (French, 1935- ) for Magis Design. It dates from the 1990s and is in excellent condition. The top was just refinished and is in near-mint condition. It features three cast aluminum legs with through-tenon construction. There are no tags or hallmarks. Marc Berthier is "Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres" and received the "Médaille de l'Art et de l'Industrie". He was the French representative at the EEC for the "Maison Européenne" commission. He was one of the first designers to collaborate with Magis back in the 1980s. He is the founder of Design Plan Studio in Paris where he currently teaches at the "École Nationale Supérieur de Création industrielle" for which he is also the "Directeur d'unité". He works in France with Lexon, in Italy with MAGIS, in Germany with Black Design, in Hong Kong with Hedworth, in Japan with Dé Signe. He received the following awards: Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle, René Gabriel Award, Compasso d'Oro ADI 1991 e 1994, Forum Design Awards 1995, 1997, 1998, Design Plus 1999, American Design Award 1999.
