This glass vase by the important contributor to the American studio glass movement, Paul Marioni (1941- ) features abstract. encased male and female figures with mountains in the distance. Condition is excellent. There are no deep scratches, visible cracks or losses. (Vase was photographed aside a bank of exposed fluorescent lamps which explains the unusual reflection pattern seen on the left side of the vase in our images.) Signed by the artist and dated 1979. Weighs 5.7 lbs. The figures and landscape of this vase are similar to that of a vase by Marioni, entitled Life on Mars, which was sold at auction by Bonhams in New York on June 15, 2010, in lot 2472 for $5,490 (including buyer's premium). Another Marioni vase depicting an alien, entitled "The Visitor", is shown on page 91 of Contemporary Glass, a survey from the Corning Glass Museum, edited by Susanne Frantz and published by Harry N.
