| This wonderful sofa in rich, dark brown leather, after Jean Michel Frank (1895-1941), is believed to have been made by Comte S.A. (aka Comte S.R.L.), of Buenos Aires, Argentina, circa 1940s-1950s. It carries its original metal tag on the base bearing the number D 3620. Eight original cushions are stuffed with down. There are no obvious tears or deep scratches on the cushions. One seam has come apart on one cushion which can easily be repaired. There is obvious wear to the crest rail and along the bottom edge. Given its age, the overall condition is exceptional and it is clear the sofa was well cared for over he past seventy years. Attribution comes from Rago Arts (Lambertville, NJ) and the Comte Committee (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Dimensions: 30" H X 118.5" W X 33.3" D (76.2cm H X 301.0cm W X 84.5cm D). | |||||||||||||||
