Included here is a pair of Birillo stools by Joe Colombo (1930-1971), produced in Italy by Zanotta, circa 1970. Featuring stainless steel frame, leg rest and seatback frame, with fiberglass base with original black rubber gasket. One base was refinished years ago in a creamy white color and this layer of paint has crackled in spots. Our client recently had the pair newly upholstered in white vinyl. Steel is in excellent condition, with no visible pitting and no deep scratches. They carry their original (and incorrect) label from Zanotta which identifies it as a design by Achille Castiglioni. (It appears an employee in the factory mistakenly applied the label intended for Castiglioni's Primate Chair, a low stool with similar raised seatback.) It also carries the original label from ICF, the innovative New York company known for their importation and distribution of furniture from leading architects and designers in Italy. Each measures 42 x 18.5 x 20.5 in (107 x 47 x 52 cm), with a seat height of 30.5 in (77 cm).
