|Here is a rare matching pair of vintage Embryo chairs by Marc Newson (1963- ) and produced in Japan by Idee in 1988. They feature polished and lacquered tube steel legs with brushed aluminum flanges, and their original black neoprene upholstery. Condition of each is excellent. There are no rips or scuffs, and only some light fingerprints which can be removed. Each measures 31" high, 23.5" wide and 35" deep, with seat height of 16.5". (78.7 x 59.7 x 88.9 cm, seat height 41.9 cm). Newson's career was just taking off during the short period in which Idee was producing the model, and due to the changes in construction implemented by Cappellini when they acquired the contract around 1991, these chairs are highly collectible and represent an excellent investment opportunity. Cappellini-produced chairs are distinguished by their use of chromium-plated steel on the legs and leg-flanges, and their "bi-elastic" fabric which is not to be confused with the neoprene fabric used by Idee and on the original prototypes produced in Australia by Dedece.|
