| This oil on canvas by the Scottish painter, Alfred F. de Breanski Jr. (1877-1955), is entitled The Citadel of Cairo. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner. Canvas measures 18 by 24 inches. Condition is very good. The canvas was relined with wax and linen, and varnished around 1970. There are signs of inpainting in a few areas, including several points in the sky. Frame dates from the late 20th century. Provenance: Sotheby's Arcade Sale No. 1181, lot 219; Paul Whitener; Hickory Museum of Art, Hickory, NC. The artist was the son of the noted landscape painter, Alfred de Breanski (1852-1928). Canvas measures 18 x 24 in (45.7 x 61 cm). | ||||||||
