Guest Book

Included here is a magnificent pair of cast metal torchere (torchiere) lamps from the Edward F. Caldwell Lighting Company, circa 1900-1910s. Each measures 83.25" (6' 11.25") tall and 31.5" wide, with marble and alabster bases measuring 16" in diameter. They each feature nine candle holders arranged in a pyramid shape, with bare metal and decorated leafy scrolls, seated classical male figures beside a coat of arms depicting a castle, stars and lion, with drapery swag and tassel. They have their original finish which appears to have been touched up on spots. These were designed to be electrified and the rear of each feature recessed channels to hold the wires in place. A small portion of the original wiring remains in place and some of the candle holders have clumps of melted wax. We can have these newly wired for an additional expense. An archival drawing of this model, 2LB101-11-A68680, can be found in the Caldwell archives at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York. Additional images forwarded upon request.
