| This is an exceptional, large oil on canvas by the Hungarian artist, Tibor Szontagh (1873-1930). Artist's signature is covered by the frame. Canvas measures 30" by 40" (75 cm by 100 cm) and frame measures 36" by 46" (91 cm by 117 cm). Depicted is a peasant girl pealing vegetables on the banks of a river, beside her modest country home. This work illustrates a lovely use of light and shadow and depth of field. This work dates from the late 19th to early 20th century, and resides in a period giltwood frame. You'll see in our images this old frame has some considerable wear along a couple edges. | |||||||||||||||
