Franz Till KPM Porcelain Plaque with Boy's Portrait
This nineteenth century KPM porcelain plaque by Franz Till of Dresden bears an exceptional full length portrait of a boy in black dress holding a hat. It measures 6" high, 4.5" wide and resides within a period frame measuring 12.25" high, 10.75" wide and 1.25" deep. Rear carries the impressed KPM sceptre mark along with the words " Fr. Till, Dresden ". Till was an artist who apparently opened his own porcelain decoration company in the mid-nineteenth century. He is said to have died in 1866. This item comes from a family who have been collecting European porcelain for four generations. It resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
