Included here is a matching pair of extremely tall armoires with vermilion red japanned finish in classic Chinese style, custom-designed and built by Giorgio Piotto of Rossano Veneto, Italy. The pair each measure an impressive 95" (7' 11") tall, 50.5" wide and 24" deep. Their design is reminiscient of the Chinese vermilion japanned cabinets of the Louis XV period during late eighteenth century, but streamlined and without the decorations and adornments common of that period. Their contemporary design will look at home with many styles of modern decor. They are crafted from solid cherry wood with pressboard rear panels. Each has two doors which enclose an interior with distressed ( antiqued ) finish, with clothes rod, four upper shelves, a lower section with one large cubby hole and three smaller cubbies, plus two lower, easy-glide drawers with metal drop handles. They were purchased through Nella Vetrina (of the D&D building in Manhattan) for $30,000 in 2008. There are about ten areas of minor damage which occurred during shipment, including a couple long scratches to the side of one cabinet, and nicks and chips to the finish of the sides. All of these areas can be repaired and we will be happy to provide a quote for restoration which can be completed prior to shipment. Additional images forwarded upon request. These items reside in our client's studio in Midtown Manhattan ( New York City ) and may be seen by appointment.
