| Included here are a matching pair of antique 64" tall torchieres crafted from carved marble, featuring neoclassical figural gilded and patinated bronze candlearms, attributed to Edward F. Caldwell. "L.C. Tiffany" marks scratched into the bronze suggest they may have been retailed by Tiffany, or the marks may simply be spurious. They are also marked " Gerome ", likely after the French sculptor, Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904). They feature three patinated bronze male figures holding six gilt bronze candlearms with snake or serpent motifs, with seashell drip pans. The marble pedestals feature carved floral, fish and swan bird motifs and rest upon gilt bronze platforms. They are not wired, but we can add sockets and wiring at an additional cost. These items reside with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York city and may be seen by appointment. | |||||||||||||
