This tremendous 43 inch tall mantle clock in the French Louis XIV style, with elaborate ormolu decoration, dates from the nineteenth century and was produced for and retailed by Tiffany & Co. The face is decorated with enameled porcelain numbers, surmounted by a Greek mask. The original key and sunburst style pendulum are present. There is a small hole in the glass in the lower left corner. Male figures form the four legs and a female goddess on horseback decorates the lower center. The clock is surmounted by a three-dimensional figure of Cronus or Kronos (the Greek harvest deity known for overseeing crops who is typically depicted with a sickle), or Chronus, the Greek figure associated with the passing of time who is commonly referred to as the Father of Time. We have not yet inspected nor photographed the escapement.
