|This magnificent centerpiece, crafted from silvered bronze with a frosted glass oval bowl, dates from the last quarter of the nineteenth century, and has been attributed to Christofle. It measures 7.75" tall, 17" wide and 10.5" deep (19.7 cm by 43.2 cm by 26.7 cm). It features griffin-like lion marks at each end and cartouches on each side and is raised on lion paw feet, in the manner of the French Empire Revival and English Regency Revival periods. We have not found a hallmark, but the piece is very similar to other Christofle pieces we have seen appear at major auction, and is identical to the Christofle centerpiece sold by Sotheby's in New York in lot 100 on November 28, 2006 for $4,500.|
