| This delightful antique gilded trumeau mirror features a painting depicting the French emperor Napoleon presenting a comander with a medal of honor on the battlefield. The work is signed in the lower right corner and has not been deciphered. Canvas is in good condition. There is some craquelure consistent with age and some minor paint losses. There are also a couple very old repairs which appear to date from the nineteenth or early twentieth century. Glass is not original. This mirror resides with our client in Midtown Manhattan (New York City) and may be seen in person by appointment. Canvas measures 36 by 24.25 inches and the mirror measures 24 by 17.5 inches. | |||||||||||
