| This tremendous cabinet by Druce & Company of London dates from the period of Napoleon III or the Third Republic. It measures 92 by 60 by 14 inches (233.7 by 152.4 by 35.6 cm). Inspired by the designs of Boulle under Louis XIV, this ebonized mahogany cabinet features extensive ormolu bronze mounts and brass marquetry. Lower cabinet doors open to reveal two shelves with old (possibly original) red velvet and the Druce and Co. nameplate. The upper cabinet features glazed and curved glass side panels and glazed doors and two adjustable shelves. This cabinet resides with our client in Manhattan (New York City), and it may be seen in person by appointment. | |||||||||||||||
