|This Trilogia sofa table (or petite coffee table) was designed by Roberto Gabetti (1925-2000) and Aimaro Oreglia d' Isola (1928-) in 1970. Measures 15.7 in (40 cm) tall, 34.6 in (88 cm) wide, and 19.1 in (48.5 cm) deep. It features a chrome plated steel frame with mahogany veneered top and turned wooden wrapped legs. Overall condition is good. There are a few small losses at the edges of the table, but no deep scratches or water stains on the top. There are a handful of scuff marks on the wooden surfaces on the legs. Together Gabetti and Isola designed numerous important buildings in Turin and elsewhere in Italy. They were known to have rejected conventional notions of twentieth century Modernism, and this table is representative of their style. Its chrome finished frame with straight and curved lines, and use of fine veneer, is reminiscent of designs by Donald Deskey and other Art Deco period designers such as Warren McArthur, and Mies van der Rohe. Furniture and lighting designs by Gabetti and Isola are collected, and occasionally appear at major auction. A notable recent sale occurred on June 18, 2007, at Quittenbaum in Munich, when a dining table with identical features to ours was sold in lot 617 for 6,000 euros.|
