23j COLUMBUS KING Marked Dial and Movement Salesman’s Display C: 1894. Rare. Top of the Railroad production models for this company.

The Columbus King Model was the top of the line and was sold as Railroad approved. In 1903 the Columbus W.Co. sold to the Studebaker and the South Bend Watch Co. started. All moved to South Bend Indiana. This example is very rare and is all original Clean, running and still accurate. Note: Columbus W.Co. total production was only 500,00. Elgin produced 50 million, and Waltham produced 33 million. All Columbus watch are very scarce, and this one is extremely rare.

DIAL: White porcelain double sunken signed: “Columbus King” and “23 jewels” over the sub. Seconds circle. Some short hairlines exist at the edge, which does not distract from this original rare dial.

MOVEMENT: 18 size, hunting model, full plate star burst nickel pattern design unique only to this model, lever set, “COLUMBUS KING/23 Jewels”, “ADJUSTED” #504,338. Excellent original condition. Clean, running and accurate.

CASE: cased un an excellent Hamilton nickel glass back or salesman’s sample or display case with beveled glass on each side for easy viewing of this rare watch.
