ELGIN R.R. Watch Inspector Jos Klasener Jersy Shore, Pa

ELGIN R.R. Time Inspector Jos Klasener Jersy Shore, Pa. Key Wind R.R. Grade C: 1875. Rare and very early Official Railroad Time Inspector, associated with the Pennslvania Railroad System. German immigrant and a master watchmaker located very near to The Pennsylvania Railroad station in Antes Fort, was only 2 miles (3.2 km) to the southeast of Jersey Shore!

Jersey Shore was incorporated as a borough on March 15, 1826. The history of Jersey Shore begins about 50 years before it was incorporated and on the opposite bank of the West Branch Susquehanna River in what is now Nippenose Township. Colonel John Henry Antes arrived in 1772 and established a homestead along the banks of Antes Creek. Antes also built a gristmill and his fortified home, Fort Antes, provided a safe haven for the early settlers against raids conducted by Loyalist and Indian forces during the American Revolution

On December 1, 1871, the PRR leased the United New Jersey Railroad and Canal Company, which included the original Camden and Amboy Railroad from Camden, New Jersey (across the Delaware River from Philadelphia) to South Amboy, New Jersey (across Raritan Bay from New York City), as well as a newer line from Philadelphia to Jersey City, New Jersey, much closer to New York, via Trenton, New Jersey. Track connection in Philadelphia was made via the PRR's Connecting Railway and the jointly owned Junction Railroad (Philadelphia).[13] THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.

DIAL: Mint, original Elgin Factory created single sunken white porcelain dial created especially for this R.R. Inspector; signed; “Jos. KLASENER”. This original rare R.R. dial also has the original keyhole key wind original hands!

MOVEMENT: 18 size, full plate gilt, Railroad Grade Model, key wind and key set, 15j “ADJUSTED”, “Jos Klasener, Jersey Shore, Pa.” Only 28,354 in this high grade run. Very similar to the 15 jewel first model B.W. Raymond R.R. Grade only with the bridge cut-a-way for a better view of the balance on this model. Like new clean, running condition and original to this case.

CASE: Double hinged back and bezel nickel/silver and unmarked except for the number “3361643” on inside back of both the dust cover and back lid. Plain polished. Comes with the original Key!
