*Cornell Watch Co. George Root Key Wind 16992 Circa: 1871. Rare. Cornell Watch Co., Chicago, Ill. 1870 – 1874; serial numbers 12,001 to about 23,000.The Cornell Watch Co. bought the NE3wark Watch Co. and gratly improved the movements being produced. In the Fall of 1874, the company moved to San Francisco, Calif., with about 60 of its employees. Chinese laborers were employed, and they went on strike. The end came in 1876. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.
DIAL: Mint original unsigned white porcelain with Roman figures. Original hands. Rare original dial.
MOVEMENT: 18 size, open face, full plate gilt, key wind and key set, 15 jewels, signed: “Geo. H. Root/ Chicago, Ill,”, #16,992. Rare and free of distraction.
CASE: Double hinged back and bezel nickel/Silver “SIVEROID”. Excellent condition key wind case.
