A cast iron tetsubin or water kettle with a frog in high relief. This kettle by Ryuseido is in overall good condition and the lid is signed Showa 8 (1934) The tea kettle was filled with water for 24 hours - it did not leak. There is the usual rust on the kettle's interior and underside of lid.

A nicely detailed wood sculpture of cow. An affixed note to the bottom of the sculpture states that the cow was a memento of the owner's pilgrimage to the Temple Zen Kosji in Nagano. There is an incised kanji in the wood - perhaps more information is under the paper. The condition is good. Please note natural indentation by front upper leg.

Chinese mahjong game with bone/bamboo tiles & bone sticks. The 5 drawer box is made of tamo wood and has brass handles. The front panel lifts upward - it removes somewhat stifly - see photo for panel'sl inside for scrape marks. Age related shrinkage has allowed some separation at the wood joints. There is some separation and loss of wood where the back panel joins the bottom piece.

The jizai kagi suspends from a beam and hangs over the hearth to hold a tetsubin or kettle. It is made of bamboo and mixed metals, bronze, copper, brass with an iron hook to suspend it. The cross beam is a fan attached to a kanji symbol, Happiness (kotobuki) which connects back to the pole. The unit stretches from 70" - 73". It is in overall good condition. Please note there is minor splitting in the bamboo.
