A large, dynamic Hagi ceramic bowl with Daruma and his fly whisk. The fly whisk begins in the bowl's interior and the tail's flicking motion is caught on the bowl's exterior. The bowl is signed "shunraku". The bowl's rim is scalloped. It is in overall good condition and possibility dates middle 20th century. Stand is not included.

There are a few rough areas on the corners and edges. This early 20th century or earlier suzuribako is in overall good condition.

A large cast iron tetsubin or water kettle with bamboo detail and commemorative writing on the opposite side. This signed Nambu kettle is dated Showa 26 (1952) and is in very good condition. The tea kettle was filled with water for 24 hours - it did not leak. There is the expected rust on the interior and underside of lid.

Universally well known are the Three Wise Monkeys who pictorially illustrate the maxim of "See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Speak No Evil." This 3 piece set of posed bronze monkeys are in overall good condition with minimal loss of patina. The largest of the monkeys is signed and two of the monkeys have a small piece of metal rattling around on the inside. They date from the Showa period or earlier.

Offered for sale is this tall, narrow and deep wood cabinet (bindarai) that was used by a barber to carry his tools of the trade to his client's locale. There is a large opening in the top to insert the fingers and thereby easily carry the cabinet. The cabinet has 5 drawers, an open divided space on top as well as a hinged lid that opens to a deep storage well. The cabinet is in overall good condition - each front drawer has a lighter space where tape was adhered to probably list contents. There is also loss of wood on an edge, black marks and loss of finish - please see photo. Dates early 20th century.
