The body and lid of this incense burner has open work in the hexagonal shape of a honeycomb. This white porcelain koro has a shishi finial and dragon heads for handles. It was made in the San Gyoku-Sen kiln and comes with its original wood box. The box is dated 1976. It is in good condition.

The Ainu people of Hokkaido, Japan, are well know for their tradition of carving wood bears. In this well carved sculpture, a hungry cub looks to its mother for a dinner of salmon. Carved from one piece of wood, the sculpture is in over all good condition. There is a stress crack in the lower eye rim and a gouge of wood which was probably present before the piece was carved. Offered for sale is this pair hibachi made of kiri wood (paulownia) with maki-e and MOP accents. The liners are copper and the pair hibachi come with their original wood storage box (the box's lift out front panel is missing a horizontal finger bar). The hibachi, charcoal braziers, are in overall very good condition with some minor loss of MOP and few stress lines in the lacquer. Dates first quarter of the 20th century or earlier. A jacket with sashiko stitching throughout the garment. The stitching is meticulous with a beginning rectangle shape repeatedly enlarged as it is stitched from the center to the side seams. It is a light-weight 2 layer jacket. The outer backside has fading and there are a couple rust like stains on the inside center shoulder area. Dates mid century or earlier.

A large cast iron tetsubin or water kettle. Plover birds fly above the waves and geometrical lines surround the neck of the tea kettle. The tea kettle was filled with water for 24 hours - it did not leak. There is the expected rust on the interior and underside of lid. Signed "Nambu". This Showa period or earlier tetsubin is in overall good condition.
