A Japanese leather tobacco pouch with a silver fitting of Daikoku and Ebisu. Its tobacco case is made of stag antler horn and is connected to the pouch with a ceramic ojime. It is in overall good condition. Dates from circa 1900 period.

A Japanese leather tobacco pouch with a silver fitting. Its tobacco case and pipe is connected to the pouch by a carnelian ojime. The pipe's mouth and end pieces are silver and its case is possibly made from pressed fiber or lacquer coated paper. A packet of finely shredded tobacco is inside the pouch. It is in overall good condition. Dates from circa 1900 period.

A lost wax casting bronze suiban signed by the artist Watarikumo. His teacher, Murata Seimei, a noted artist, lived 8/13/1761 - 11/24/1837. No information could be found to document Watarikumo's life span. Watarikumo became the second Murata Seimei. The suiban is in overall good condition - there is some loss of patina, and a patch of oxidation - please see last photo.

A life size cast iron form of an abalone shell with red urushi lacquer. On the backside, its outgrowth (5 toed) stabilizes it to sit steady on a flat surface. There are 2 "bumps" or pflanges on the top's rim - its unclear if there had been another shell half which would have joined to form a box - please view last photo. It is in overall good condition - there is expected wear to the lacquer. Dates from early 20th century.

This andon lantern, with its two wood circles, one inside the other, allows the outer circle to revolve. The candle's light output is controlled by the size of the opening. Each circle has 2 quarter vertical paper panes. The top section of the lantern has a more bright urushi lacquer than the base. The paper lantern top can be removed from its stand. The lantern is in overall good condition. The paper has been replaced and there are nicks, wood discoloration and some loss of lacquer to the base and stand. Dates early 20th century.

Presented for sale is this wood sign with 5 kanji. It possibly reads: Den En Mai Rai Tei. My friends, who read kanji, offer this as the meaning" "Every time you come to DEN EN this is the place to come". A gathering place, such as a restaurant or entertainment venue, could have placed this in their establishment. It is in overall good condition. There are natural wood splits and an area of lighter wood.

A tabako bon set with a removable square shaped compartment comprised of a small hibachi, drawer, open storage space and metal swing arms to hold the pipe. The top of the removable piece has decorative copper strips going from the bronze hibachi to the compartment's corners. This Meiji era tobacco chest is made of mulberry wood, and has metal fittings for the door and drawers. The wood tube ring is probably not original and was modified. The opening which houses the hibachi/ring, has two notches, which would have allowed the original ring piece to lock into place. The replacement piece has a split, it does hold the hibachi in place. but can easily be dislodged. Please note in the photos that there is loss of wood on a drawer, the back post has loss of wood and there is an old repair on the chest's top.

This ornate wood piece was originally part of a Butsudan's interior. It is hand carved and the gold lacquer has a rich patina. There are 5 pieces missing on the lower shelf - one can see the shadow of where each one had set. The left "foot" lifts off from the area where the base meets at the corner. There is some loss and wear to the gold lacquer. Dates from the Meiji era.
