A primitive wood candle stand with iron pricket and collar shelf to catch the candle drippings. The pole's height is adjustable. There is wear to the candle holder - nicks to the pole and the base. The cross arm has had a break and repair. A nice piece of mingei. Dates early 20th century.

Chinese mahjong game with bone/bamboo tiles & bone sticks. The 5 drawer box is made of tamo wood and has brass handles. The front panel lifts upward - it removes somewhat stifly - see photo for panel'sl inside for scrape marks. Age related shrinkage has allowed some separation at the wood joints. There is some separation and loss of wood where the back panel joins the bottom piece.

Offered for sale is this pair hibachi made of kiri wood (paulownia) with maki-e and MOP accents. The liners are copper and the pair hibachi come with their original wood storage box (the box's lift out front panel is missing a horizontal finger bar). The hibachi, charcoal braziers, are in overall very good condition with some minor loss of MOP and few stress lines in the lacquer. Dates first quarter of the 20th century or earlier. This noragi reflects a farmer's ability to take scraps and discarded textiles to create and extend the life of a garment. The indigo cotton jacket has details of sashiko stitching, boro, tatters and mends. There is no collar and there are unmended holes and tears.

The lids are lacquered wood and one lid is slightly larger and does not sit flush inside the recessed space. Both lids have lacquer chipping.
