Offered for sale is this pair of cast iron sake kettles, chosi, with their wood storage box. The lids are lacquered wood and one lid is slightly larger and does not sit flush inside the recessed space. Both lids have lacquer chipping. The kettles were filled with water for 24 hours - they did not leak. Please note the rust. They date early 20th century.

Offered for sale are these three non ferrous metal masks. This writer is unsure onto what these miniature 3 1/2" - 4 1/2" masks would have been attached to. Unlike the nail corver kugikakushi, the prongs on these ornamentals are blunt ended. One prong is replaced with a soft wire.

Nail head covers in the shape of turtles. These covers are made of copper and were affixed to crossbeams to hide the nails. Please visit the Victoria & Albert Museum for more details. They are in good condition with slight bending or indentation and some loss & wear to the patina from usage.

He sits on a wood base which is probably not original but works very well for a stand. The stand has some loss and loosening of wood. The Arhat comes with its wood storage box. From the first quarter of the 20th cenury is this Japanese glass kerosene oil lamp in a metal stand. The burner is marked the Kinzoku & Co. and the chimney is marked K.G.F., Made in Japan. the The globe is frosted around the collar and has a chip on the end that sits in the metal shade holder. The metal shade holder has been stretched to accommodate the globe, perhaps this globe is not the original one. The 5 spoked base is made of iron while the pole and lamp holder is made of either copper or brass. The lamp tripod holder extends from the collar down into curley cues which are welded to the pole. The pole is attached to the base with a wire - the entire stand is very stable.

Offered for sale is this pair bronze hibachi with high relief scenes and elephant handles. On one side is Chokwaro, a mountain genie or Sennin who possessed a magic gourd. Upon command, a horse would emerge from the gourd on which he could ride away. The pair hibachi have not been polished but left as they were when last used. There is oxidation on the insides and small amount on the bodys' exteriors. There is some wear and loss of patina from use. Date circa 1900's. Japanese Copper Kettle for the tea ceremony. The surface has been wonderfully sculpted into trenches or channels. It is lined with some type white metal and dates from the early 20th century. The kettle was filled with water for 24 hours and it did not leak. There is some oxidation - please see photos.
