The bold kanji characters on this shigaraki pot identify a tea shop. The assertive style and scribbled glaze are signature shigaraki. Three lumpy "ears" sit on the pot's shoulder below an everted rim with lip moulding, and finger-grooves ring the sides. The brown glaze was applied with a wave or ripple effect. The underside has faint signature marks. The inside reveals the pale paste and shows drips of the brown glaze. Notice a small chunk of the kanji has been lost.
