A large cast iron tetsubin or water kettle. Plum blossoms encircle the kettle. The lid's underside provides information that the water kettle is a gift, associated with the sakubetsucho agricultural co-op. The tea kettle was filled with water for 24 hours - it did not leak. There is the expected rust on the kettle's interior and underside of lid. There is also a an area of rust on the body of the kettle - see photos. Signed "Ryuseido". This Showa period tetsubin is in overall good condition.

A large, dynamic Hagi ceramic bowl with Daruma and his fly whisk. The fly whisk begins in the bowl's interior and the tail's flicking motion is caught on the bowl's exterior. The bowl is signed "shunraku". The bowl's rim is scalloped. It is in overall good condition and possibility dates middle 20th century. Stand is not included.

Universally well known are the Three Wise Monkeys who pictorially illustrate the maxim of "See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Speak No Evil." This 3 piece set of posed bronze monkeys are in overall good condition with minimal loss of patina. The largest of the monkeys is signed and two of the monkeys have a small piece of metal rattling around on the inside. They date from the Showa period or earlier.

A nicely detailed wood sculpture of cow. An affixed note to the bottom of the sculpture states that the cow was a memento of the owner's pilgrimage to the Temple Zen Kosji in Nagano. There is an incised kanji in the wood - perhaps more information is under the paper. The condition is good. Please note natural indentation by front upper leg.

The jizai kagi suspends from a beam and hangs over the hearth to hold a tetsubin or kettle. It is made of bamboo and mixed metals, bronze, copper, brass with an iron hook to suspend it. The cross beam is a fan attached to a kanji symbol, Happiness (kotobuki) which connects back to the pole. The unit stretches from 70" - 73". It is in overall good condition. Please note there is minor splitting in the bamboo.
