Two interesting pieces combine for a unique and intriguing display. The mustached figure with prominent canine teeth is Shishiguchi, which means lion's mouth, and is from the Shakkyo play. The mask is of clay. The basket is wooden. It's formed of single ply across bamboo hoops, and was laced into shape. Meiji period (1868-1911)
