Stone Jizo Figure

This stone Jizo has engraved kanji dated Showa 4 November 27th (1930). Jizo is most popularly known as the guardian of deceased babies. This is a role unique to Japan and not the rest of Asia. Jizou is the most popular deity of the people, a friend to all. He is also the patron saint of expectant mothers, children, fireman, travelers, pilgrims and the protector of all beings who happened to be caught in the six realms of reincarnation.
