This Kanto (Tokyo) style hibachi with drawers is made of wonderful Keyaki (elm) wood. It contains some of the original hardware for cooking and includes a pair of brass tongs for arranging the coals. The wooden box is lined with copper. The bottom of the copper firepan is gone but the sides remain. It's pictured with ashes and cookware but the copper may be polished if desired. It's been fitted with a tempered glass top for use as a small table. Beautifully crafted with interesting joinery. Taisho period (1912-1926) The piece has superficial finish damage.
