Here's a nice bamboo and cedar screen in a 48" height. The ranma-style cedar panels have cut-out designs. The frame is also cedar, and fine bamboo slats form the panels. This piece is basically sound but could use some maintenance. The hinges are a bit wobbly and a piece of cedar has broken out of the top of the frame (see picture). The "defects" are visible in the photographs. The emphasis on the flaws is just for disclosure. The overall appearance is very good and this is an attractive and functional screen. Each Panel is 48" tall and 16" wide. Early Showa, pre-1940 |
