Two large unpaginated volumes: Chikuden Meiseki dai Zushi. Kettei han; The Masterpieces of Chikuden. These leather and cloth-bound volumes contain the work of the master Chikuden (1777-1835) with copious commentary as well as transliterations of the poems written on the paintings. There are several color plates as well as the grayscale prints. The color pages are printed separately and mounted on embossed pages in the books. There are 154 pictures total. There's also biographical information (in English) and several pages of stamps which are overlaid with explanatory notes (in Japanese) The volumes are huge; about 21-1/2" tall x 17" wide. The dust covers are worn and there's some spotting on some pages. The cover of volume 1 is bent. Included are the original presentation boxes which are in poor condition.
