Press the plunger and the crane bows low into the lacquer box. His bill doesn't open so he no longer clutches a cigarette as he returns to the upright position. The box has great decorative appeal with the beautiful gold makie lacquer and the well-formed crane. Dates from the Taisho or early Showa period.
