Isho Dansu Pair; *SOLD* Two Chests in Kiri Wood

This pair of chests dates from the Taisho period and has many indications of high quality. Each piece is comprised of three stacking sections. "His" has all drawers below the upper section, and "hers" has a section with sliding shelves or shallow drawers (kimono and obi) and a beveled mirror on the inside of one door. The upper sections are alike exept that the paintings on the sliding doors differ. The paintings are subtle and arresting at the same time. Serene rolling hills with plum blossoms are pure zen. Embossed bronze lock covers add another classy touch. (Key included.)
The piece is strikingly clean; the inside of the drawers appear as new. There are a couple of tiny pokes in the paintings.
