Carved Jizai Kagi (Pothook Crosspiece) Large Sea Bream

The sea bream has long been a prized fish in Japan, and here it's modeled in a jizai kagi, or pothook crosspiece. It's carved of hardwood and sits neatly on its fins when not installed on a jizai pole. Dates from early Showa or before.
