Suzuribako, or Scholar's Box with Inkstone and Suiteki

Details and more details comprise this scholar's box with a frolicking shishi under the latchplate. The box has copper drawer pulls, handle and hinges and contains a copper suiteki, or water dripper. The inkstone is edged in gilt and the liner board, which holds the stone and suiteki has a carved stem and leaf. There's a hand and brush rest, too.
The box may be carried by the handle without fear of the lid falling open. The drawers slide freely. The box shows signs of old repairs, skillfully done, and one of the copper straps on the upper corner is missing.
