Wakasa Lacquer Bento Set of Jubako with Hinged Case

Pleasing geometry and a variety of superb lacquer distinguish this most interesting bento set of jubako (stacking boxes). There are three square boxes, each of which has a different lacquer design. The folding case matches one of the boxes. There's a triangular box with lacquer rubbed in streaks to reveal orange layers below. The interior of the triangular box is pitted. Four triangular trays have wooden edges and red lacquer inside. One has a separation along the edge. The carrying handle is bound with crimson silk to prevent the handle from damaging the top of the carry case. There are blisters and small chips in the lacquer as seen in the photographs.
