Child's Han Juban, or Under-kimono-top, Patched
Autumn grape leaves and tendrils twine against a rich merlot wine background on soft, warm flannel used for this child's han juban. A neat and tidy elongated patch adorns the front of this reworked fabric. The collar and underarm reinforment are flannel; an arrow (ya) pattern with highlights of blue. The inner lining, in shades of soft russet to coppery peach, again has neat and tidy patches. Cotton batting is used between the outer and inner fabrics and the garment is hand stitched.
It's a blockly little vest, 16-1/2" wide and long. Dates from early Showa, ca. 1930's.
