Broad eaves and a tapered foot make this an elegant lantern. Smooth cedar (sugi) shapes the roof and sides. A mon, or family crest adorns the door. The paper lining needs to be replaced (or not). There's wear on the wood (mice gnaws) and the upper rear ranma panel looks like part has broken away. This doesn't detract from the symmetry and balance of the piece. It would be very simple to wire this lantern if one chose to use it as an electric lamp or porch-light. Dimensions: Height: 18-1/2" Roof: 16" sq. Base: 9-1/2" sq.
