This carved wooden piece may have been used for military training or for martial arts like jukendo It's 65-1/2" long. The staff is about 3/4" across and is oval in shape. The blade is just over 1" across. There are kanji characters near the butt end. Note the chip by the tip, and there's some roughness on the shaft.
