Hibachi, brazier, on three cylindrical feet, made of bronze in cylindrical shape on inside, outside with 12 facets, 6 of which are decorated in silver relief inlays and silver wire inlays, showing the different treasures, one in relief, one in wire inlay on each other panel: Hammer of plenty / shippo; fan / coins; scroll / coral tree; cloves / inexhaustible bag; sacred key / noshi; tama or precious jewels / lucky rain coat. The symbols make this hibachi especially suitable for use during the New Year. Japan, Meiji era, circa 1900.

H ca. 9¼ in., dia ca. 10¼ in.

Was used as planter and consistent with that there is some corrosion and water stains.

Bronze ikebana vessel in the shape of a boat with a large anchor on the stern deck. On the flanks waves are indicated in gold damascene. Japan, Edo period, 19th century.

L 12 ¼ x W 7 3/8 x H 4 ¾ inches.

Beautiful dark brown patina, scuff marks on the bottom consistent with usage, water traces consistent with usage.

Elegant waterdropper made of cast bronze standing on 3 tiny bulging feet. The handle in the shape of the head of a waterdragon, or monster, the spout in the shape of the mouth of an unidentified creature. The body of the water dropper decorated with two tiers of lotus petals, crowned by a tier of beads. Signature cast in bottom: Muneyuki (Sosetsu). Japan, Taisho era, early 20th century.

Round, cast bronze mirror, with the design of the central turtle and two cranes touching beaks, underneath a large pine tree. Surrounding them are chrysanthemums, a minogame and three young cranes. This is an image of the island Horai, symbol of longevity. Towards the lower right, against the edge the auspicious words ‘tenka ichi’. Silvered bronze. Japan, Meiji period, late 19th or early 20th century.

Gilded bronze plaque in the shape of two mighty celestial dragons whirling around a flaming jewel in the clouds. The dragons chased in high relief with excellent details, the background decorated in nanako, the tama in red copper with traces of gilding mounted into the middle of the plaque. The whole mounted on a bronze back plate with two eyelets for hanging. Probably used as a temple decoration. Japan, mid Edo period.
Width 9 ¼ inches (23.5 cm), height 8 ¼ inches (20.9 cm).
Tama rubbed and slightly dented, green corrosion in the gold, excellent condition.

Small bronze model of a horse mackerel and a shrimp. The combination of the two stands for the early summer of May through June. Cast in two pieces and joined together along the belly and the back of the fish. The belly etched a gray shade, eyes, fins and shrimp partially gilded. Japan, late Meiji, early Taisho period.
Length 4.4 inches (11 cm).
Gilding strongly rubbed, as the black etched parts, few dents and scratches, all within the acceptable traces of usage.
