Sculpture of a bald headed man with a serene face, sitting while holding a small cymbal and drum stick in his hands. The cymbal and stick are connected to each other by a cord. The man dressed in Korean garment, as it is worn by Boddhisatva. Lime stone? Inside hollowed out. Korea, Choseon period, 18th century.
Height inches 14.2 inches (36 cm).
Excellent condition. Some pits in the surface, some traces of former pigmentation.

This piece was exhibited by The Chinese Porcelain Company, New York, in the 1990s, part of the Richard Ravenal collection.

Circular black lacquer box with slightly domed lid. The cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl pieces with a design of two human beings standing together. The black lacquer is crackled showing s reddish brown color in the crackle and along the rims. Korea, Yi dynasty, 18/19th century.
Comes with Japanese fitted box with insect damage and with silk pouch.
Height: ca. 1 3/16 inch (3.4 cm); diameter: 3 5/8 inches (9.3 cm).
Cover broken in two and well restored.

Two prints with illustrations of the human body, indicating the different spots for the needle. One shows the body from the side, one the body while lying down. Black and white woodblock prints on paper. Both approx. 21 x 9 inches. Framed (12 7/8 x 25 inches). Paper toned, several tiny missing and thin spots backed, especially on the center folds. Otherwise good conditions.
