Long neck sake bottle, or tokkuri. Grayish clay covered in creamcolored glaze with a decoration of flowers and butterflies in brown. Beautiful patina due to handling. Bottom inscribed in black in, hardly readable: Ofuku, tora, saru (tiger and monkey - opposites in the zodiac). Also paper label with a number. Red collection mark at the foot: 30:3-10. Either Karatsu (Kyushu) or early Oribe-style, Seto. Japan, 18th century.

Staining of the glaze due to handling, all in all fine condition.
