Long handscroll depicting ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’ (Qīngmíng Shanghe Tu), following the scenes as seen in the handscroll with the same title by the Song painter Zhang Zeduan, housed in the Palace Museum in Beijing. One of the many re-interpretive paintings, in a totally different style than the original. People and daily life in Bianjing (today Kaifeng). Black ink and some light color on silk. Unidentified artist, China, mid 20th century. Date refers to 1933. Spurious signature and seals Molin Shanren added.
