Wide shape, with grayish rim and beautiful thick, deep red glaze on brown, fine clay. Imprinted near the foot rim with the artist’s seal: RI, partly covered by glaze. Purchased in Japan around 1985. Perfect condition. Diameter 2 ¾” (8.6 cm), height 1 ¼” (3 cm). In fitted wooden box (tomobako), 2 ½ x 4 x 4 inches (6.2 x 10.2 x 10.2 cm). Inscribed on the lid: dragon blood color, wine cup (gui-nomi), and signed RINAN above a square red seal RINAN. This piece is located in Europe (EC). |
