Zushi. In a small shrine with gilding on the inside stands Gyochu Kishimojin, her hands folded together in prayer, in her demonic shape. The deity and the base on which she stands are carved from soft wood (figure glued to base), with some gold sprinkle. Japan, 19th century.
Height 7 ¼ inches (18.6 cm).
Sculpture in very good condition. The case with clear traces of use (water damage at the bottom, causing the lacquer to chip off).
