Small shrine. Inside sitting figure of Shaka, his hands in mudra in his lap. Behind him a tall halo. His lotus throne is carried by a reclining lion hidden underneath the second platform. Wood gilded over brown lacquer. Japan, Meiji era. Height 11 inches (28.2 cm). Slight traces of usage on the outside. Case: some dirt streaks on the lacquer. Inside: tip of halo broken and repaired. Piece comes out in three parts. Generally very good condition |
