Albumen print, hand colored. Title: 1253 WISTERIA BLOSSOMS. A woman holding a baby sits on a bench next to a young girl, in front of a house. Over the entrance an abundantly flowering wisteria. To the left stands a woman with a young child on the back. Next to her a young girl. Artist: Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943). Photograph probably from mid 1880s. Mat and frame. Inner outline of mat: 7 7/8 x 10 3/8 inches (20.2 x 26.6 cm) (the actual photo is slightly larger, as it continues underneath mat). Frame: 18 1/4 x 20 1/8 in. (46.3 x 51.2 cm). Minimal creasing in left margin, otherwise good condition. Hinged at upper edge matboard (can be undone). Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943) was active in the 1880s through 1900.
