Albumen print, hand colored. Title is underneath mat. View over the pond at the 5 storied pagoda in Nara (?). Some houses. Artist: Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943). Photograph probably from mid 1880s. Mat and frame. Inner outline of mat: 7 5/8 x 10 inches (19.3 x 25.5 cm) (the actual photo is slightly larger, as it continues underneath mat). Frame: 18 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. (46.3 x 51.4 cm). Some light spots in the sky, otherwise good condition. Hinged at upper edge matboard (can be undone). Kusakabe Kimbei (1841-1943) was active in the 1880s through 1900.
